Lola’s journey to her forever home was anything but simple. She first arrived at Longmont Humane Society in the spring of 2021, transferred from a shelter that had run out of space.
Months later, she was adopted, but her high energy proved too much for her new family. She was returned, only to be adopted again—this time for two years—until her adopter had to move and could no longer keep her.
But the third time was the charm for Lola. When Ryan met her, he knew they were meant to be. Two years later, she’s thriving in a home filled with love, adventure, and plenty of playtime.
Ryan recently sent this heartwarming update: “I adopted Lola (previously Lulu) almost two years ago, and she’s brought so much joy into my life! When I first brought her home, I was told she had severe separation anxiety due to being abandoned multiple times. She hated kennels and even broke out of them. The vet recommended trazodone to help calm her while I was at work, but I ultimately didn’t feel comfortable medicating her daily. Instead, I found a solution that works perfectly for us—she now spends her days at a mix of doggy daycare and with a sitter, and she absolutely loves it!
At home, she keeps me entertained by playing with stuffed toys, solving puzzles, and running around the apartment finding places to hide her bones (including under my pillows). She’s the sweetest girl and an absolute joy. Thank you, Longmont Humane Society, for all the work you do for animals—I only wish I could adopt more!”
