Available Positions
Manager of Shelter Culture and Performance
Full-time, exempt, $58,000.00 – $65,000.00 annual salary
This position focuses on building strong, healthy teams that deliver excellent care to animals and service to the public. The manager ensures cohesive workflows between teams, supports direct staff development, and champions internal communication, staff morale, and people-first leadership practices across the shelter.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with HR to onboard, train, and retain high-performing staff
- Supervise and support department leads across Animal Care, Shelter Healthcare, Training and Behavior Modification, Client Care, Adoptions, Intake, and Retail
- Serve as the internal “culture keeper,” leading morale-boosting and recognition efforts
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and facilitate the use of individual development plans
- Partner with TBMD Supervisor, Client Care Supervisor, and Animal Care Team Leads on ongoing team development
- Actively resolve interpersonal challenges and facilitate cross-team communication
- Maintain staff coverage plans, crisis support protocols, and cross-functional staffing flexibility
- Collaborate with Shelter Manager of Compliance & Training to support emergency response efforts, ensuring appropriate housing and staffing adjustments during community crises
- Serve on the transfer coordination team, aligning animal movement with capacity, staffing, and behavior plans
- Participate in strategic planning, organizational meetings, and budget development
- Assist the Shelter Manager of Compliance & Training, TBMD Supervisor, and Healthcare team in making quality-of-life and behavioral euthanasia decisions as needed
Social Media Coordinator
Part-time, $19.00 – $24.00 per hour
The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for managing and enhancing Longmont Humane Society’s digital presence. This role will focus on increasing the visibility of adoptable animals, promoting shelter events, and fostering community engagement through social media. Key responsibilities include creating and scheduling daily content, responding to audience interactions, collaborating with event sponsors when appropriate, and monitoring community conversations. The Social Media Coordinator will also support event promotion efforts, providing live coverage and engagement during key adoption and fundraising events. By handling these essential tasks, this position will allow the Director of Marketing to focus on strategic initiatives, media relations, and broader community outreach efforts. This is a part-time role (15-20 hours per week, 28 hours maximum) with flexible scheduling.
Lead Training Specialist
Full-time, $22.00 per hour
The Lead Training Specialist is responsible for supervisory and hands-on work with the Training & Behavior Modification Department (TBMD). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, effective and appropriate training and handling for dogs in need of behavior modification, maintaining behavioral health of dogs while in a kennel/shelter environment, and participating as needed in public training (instructing group classes, providing private training and adoption follow up support).
Training Specialist
Part-time, $19.63 per hour
The Training Specialist works directly with the Training & Behavior Modification Department (TBMD) Supervisor to support and assist with training & behavior modification programs, including training sessions as well as general physical exercise and mental stimulation.
Well Pet Clinic Receptionist
Part-time (15 hours per week), $16.57 per hour
Schedule for this position: Tuesday 8am-1:30pm; Wednesday 12pm-5pm; Friday 12pm-5pm
The Longmont Humane Society’s Well Pet Clinic Receptionist position is the face of the clinic, sharing information about our services to the community and managing the scheduling, intake, and check-out of patients at the clinic.
