Adult Volunteer Orientations are held twice each month.
Longmont Humane Society could not provide outstanding services and quality of life to the thousands of animals that we care for each year without the dedicated support of our volunteer community. Volunteers offer assistance in nearly all areas of our organization. We are very excited to have you join our team to support the staff and to provide enrichment for the animals that are in our care before they find their forever home.
Though many volunteers stay with us for years, we request a commitment of one shift per week for a minimum of 3 months in most areas. We are open seven days a week so many shift slots are available.
NOTE: Children can volunteer with a parent if they are between ages 8-12. We ask that no more than two children accompany an adult at one time. If your children are 13 + and would like to volunteer without a parent, they will attend the TEEN Orientation. Scroll down for more info.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Individuals with peanut allergies-
Please be aware that the Longmont Humane Society often uses peanut butter to fill Kongs and for dog enrichment purposes. Peanut butter is used all over the Dog Adopts area and kitchen. We are unable to make this a peanut-free environment and peanut residue may be found on dog biscuit containers, handles, glass doors, cabinets, etc. We do our best to be careful with this product, there are gloves available to volunteers, hand washing stations, and other enrichment opportunities outside of peanut butter to make use of, but we can’t guarantee that there won’t be cross-contamination.
*Court-mandated community service cannot be fulfilled through our volunteer department. Please contact our Animal Welfare Team Supervisors at 303-772-1232 ext. 229 instead.
