2024 Annual Report

To Our Valued Supporters,

As we reflect on 2024, we at Longmont Humane Society are filled with immense gratitude for the unwavering support of our community. Your generosity and dedication have enabled us to achieve remarkable milestones, including securing a $150,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to expand our community impact through the Well Pet Clinic.

Thanks to your support, our public programs have also reached new heights this year. Initiatives like Humane Education and Kids Camps have inspired young minds to embrace compassion and care for animals, while our Public Dog Training classes have strengthened the bond between pets and their families. Additionally, the Pet Food Pantry and Emergency Boarding programs have provided critical assistance to families in need, ensuring that pets remain cared for and supported during challenging times.

This year, we again celebrated the successful adoption of thousands of animals, providing them with loving forever homes. Looking ahead, we are inspired by the possibilities that lie before us and remain committed to enhancing the lives of animals and their families. Together, we will continue to build a compassionate and thriving community for all.

Humane Education

The Longmont Humane Society’s Humane Education program blossomed in 2024, reaching over 3,000 individuals with impactful programs designed to foster compassion and respect for animals.

From engaging classroom presentations and summer camps to exciting birthday parties and informative shelter tours, we connected with people of all ages, inspiring a deeper understanding of animal welfare. Our innovative partnerships with organizations like the St. Vrain Valley School District, Girl Scouts of Colorado, and the City of Longmont allowed us to expand our reach and introduce humane education to new audiences.

Through these collaborations, we empowered young advocates, promoted responsible pet ownership, and provided essential resources for both children and adults. As we look ahead to 2025, we are committed to expanding our initiatives and ensuring that humane education continues to thrive in our community and beyond.

Community Outreach

The Longmont Humane Society’s Community Outreach program strengthens the human-animal bond by providing crucial support to pet owners. Through the Community Pet Pantry and our Well Pet Clinic’s low-cost vaccine and spay/neuter clinics, families can access essential pet care and supplies, preventing animal surrenders. The Safe Keep program offers temporary emergency boarding, ensuring pets remain safe during crises.

Community Outreach also fosters a vibrant network of animal lovers through events like Paws in the Park, Oktoberfest, and Putts for Mutts, and partnerships with local businesses for 3rd party events or donation drives. These initiatives raise awareness and crucial funds, furthering the shelter’s mission and engaging the community in supporting animal welfare.

Well Pet Clinic

The Well Pet Clinic provides accessible and affordable veterinary care to our community. In 2024, thanks to our donors and a PetSmart Charities Accelerator grant, we expanded our services helping 10,312 pets and purchasing new x-ray equipment to expand services further into 2025

We also increased our capacity to offer essential low-cost services, including preventative care, treatment for non-emergency medical needs, pain management, and surgeries.

Looking ahead to 2025, we anticipate an 35% increase in our ability to serve even more pets in need, thanks to continued support and our partnership with PetSmart Charities.
